When thinking of a track to remix I wanted to stick to a video game music as it always has a quirky but enhancing fell to a game witch feel very special witch is why I would like to remix a video game track
This leads me to which song to pick after having a lessen to all my favourite video game track I whittled it down to three God Shattering Star from Fire emblem 3 houses, Lost in thoughts All Alone from Fire emblem fate, or Live and learn from Sonic Adventure 2 after looking into each track and lessening to them a lot more I decided that I would like to remix Live and Learn.
So the track live and learn was produced by Crush 40 for the game Sonic Adventure 2 and with sonic being a fast paced game the music has too follow that too witch is why live and learn is 172 BPM and as an energetic Metal track but I plan to take the track and make it into a energetic Drum N Bass track while making it metamodernism
When I was tasked with making remixing the client wanted the track to fit a post-post-modern (metamodernism) witch I think fit nicely with gaming industry as gaming can feel futuristic and creative
post-post-modern (metamodernism) Postmodern art is largely known for its unidentifiable nature and its random feel mixing the old with the new witch works well for a remix
I wanted to remix the track into Drum N Bass as it would fit the all ready existing BPM and would keep the same sort of energy for the track from a racing game
Drum N Bass is a high energy fast genre that focuses its beat around Drums with the Bass to back it up and make it more grand. Drum N Bass usually uses a BPM between 165 and 185
I wanted to sample some objects in the environment around me to help me create instruments for my track adding to the odd feeling of the remix
musique concrète is French for concrete music witch is the art of recording real/raw materials and was developed in 1948 by the French by Pierre Schaeffer and they would record sounds on to tape then modify the tape/sound to there needs for there track this could be rerecording this sound being played though an echo chamber or cut up and reversed but this bought us the future of make electronic music.
This then later brough us pieces of equipment like The Chamberlin or Mellotron witch has lead us to today where we use pieces of software like Logic and Pro Tools
I personally think that that if I had more time I would have been able to put some more research into drum and bass to make the track have more energy to it and fit more to the genre making it more of a bop.
but I think that the drum beat still think it fits the aim that I was going for with it being a drum n bass video game track
I also think the track feels a little morbid and next time I would like to make a track feel more happy and uplifting
I played the track to a friends and family and got some feedback.
What do you think of the track to the original?
Dose the track meet a post-post-modern (metamodernism)?
Dose it fit the gaming feel to the track is met?
What genre do you think the track is?
when i was finished with project i dissided to send the audio to Saga with the intent of getting a lisence to distribute to places like Spotify after explaining why i made it and telling them a bit about the college they where happy to help with education and gave me a licence to modify live and learn by crush 40 and upload with there copy right key from Records DK
