So for this unit i wanted to make a plan and try to stay to it as i feel in my final FMP unit a plan and time management is going to be key to getting that distinction
It is also key in most projects and a great skill to learn for the future
so i have made a table with dates of when i am doing each part including the research Practical writeup and personal goles
when doing live sound you need to know how to set everything up and to do this we need the basic understanding of a PA. The PA has the job of taking a 2 channel stereo balanced input form the mixing desk and then strips the into 3 sets of stereo channels a high pass low pass and a mid channel so it can be sent to there respective amps for the speakers
then we need to know about inputs to the mix we would want to have a channel for each instrument and for each microphone that would be used in a show. these would be plugged in lots of ways for the guitarists they would be plugged into there peddle boards then from the peddles into a DI using a line jack from there we would take a XLR to the desk where it can be levelled and mixed with the other channels.
For the devices that take a XLR out we would just run them into a patch box that would extended there signal back to the mixing desk
Live mixing was first used to bring in your piano and mics and mix it with an amp for hardboard effect then make it into just a two channel output that was easy to manage
then in the 1990s the DMR8 was launched and this was one of the first forms of recording the mix to tape for use again or later to listen back but this also means editing the sound would be destructive to your recording witch in the present day you would be able to make a copy of it or undo the processing of the audio
The Behringer X32 allows of a fluid workflow because of its fully interactive user interface with an OS that dose the processing for the audio it also works with lots of protocols like Rednet and Dante and can be used as a digital desk and interface with software like protools.
The Behringer X32 also has a lot of features like live built in effects like reverbs Eq's and Compressors witch gives you a lot of power when mixing live. The EQ's is will mostly be used to bring out the frequency's in a non treated room this will allow for sounds to not sound drowned out
The Behringer X32 also acts as a 32 in and out preamp allowing you to gain each of the inputs witch is good for getting the dynamics of a singer perfict
Effectively using the X32 to do a live mix
Effectively use the built in effects (compressors and reverbs etc)
Effectively demonstrate how i would mix live with a video showing my steps
Could have record the audio of me mixing properly
Could have worked on a real live band
Cloud have record the video as an overhead instead of a over the shoulder
