Today I learned how to plugin and set up the X32 for a Demo live mixing with Pro tools being my virtual band. I used the ever so famous Taylor swifts we are never getting back together, track.
to get this to set the X32 up I had to make them all individual audio channels then send them to the X32 so each instrument as a fades/profile.
I also set the x32 to work at 16bit 44.1khz as I would be pulling a lot of data other USB but I delay in a real live performance you would want a higher bit depth bring it up to 24bit but at the same time this might be very large on the files sizes that can be saved if you have a show going on for 3 or more hours.
at this point I hit play and set everything to 0 dB with all the effects turned off and then started to learn where all the effects (compressors EQβs gates) are located. This didn't take me too long as most of them are located in the top left corner of the interface and followed the same principles as there hardware counterparts do
So when listening to the Taylor Swift track I found that I could fix the phone call part by using and EQ on the high end and filtering it down so the βhisβ by performance. Then I worked on Taylors vocals by adding a room reverb by using the send FX on faders button. I slid the fader up until I felt that the reverb felt natural but noticeable. I then using a compressor on the drums to help them feel more dynamic adding a hardware warmth to them and bring the whole kit together.
